The island is renowned for its beautiful coral reefs, which include Carter corals, Disc corals, Staghorn corals, Galaxy corals, Double star corals, Bubblegum corals, and Whip corals. A highlight of diving in Koh Chang is the wreck of the HTMS Chang, the largest vessel in Thailand. Local Dive Sites for Koh Chang Diving
- HTMS Chang is the largest shipwreck in Thailand. It was a landing craft carrier in WWII and was sunk as an artificial reef off Koh Chang on 22 November 2012. Whale sharks are often spotted here.
- Blueberry Hill is an underwater pinnacle site with winding canyons filled with sweetlips and full of coral. There's a large coral field beyond the canyons, where you might spot turtles and small octopuses.
- Hin Luk Bat, also known as Cube Rock, is considered as the best dive site the island has to offer and our personal favorite reef due its unique landscape, swim-throughs, and vast array of corals. The site has a pinnacle that is surrounded by giant boulders, covered with many hard and soft corals, and the biggest anemone field in Koh Chang!
- Hin Raap South is a rocky, coral rich dive site with an abundance of hard and soft corals, including leather coral fields and whip coral gardens.
- Hin Rua Teak is a triangle shaped rock with a stunning wall on the west side. It is home to a few small caves, many fan corals and a vast reef to the east. This site has a high chance of seeing blacktip reef sharks.
- T11 Wreck is a 30m coastal patrol gun ship sunk off Koh Chang in 2013 It lies in 16 meters of water and is broken in half, with the crow’s nest resting on the sandy bottom
- Secret Reef is a rock formation with a maximum depth of 12 meters. This site has the most varied collection of soft corals of any dive sites in the area!
Koh Chang Diving Marine Animals
Many people often spot Whale Sharks at HTMS Chang dive site, so you might want to have this dive site on your trip. The site also has a variety of other marine life such as batfish, filefish, scorpionfish, marbled groupers, trevally, fusiliers, snapper, large yellow-tail barracudas, giant trevally and more.
Other animals you may see on this Koh Chang Diving trip are Blacktip reef sharks, Moray eels, Blue-spotted stingrays, Barracudas, Groupers, School of yellow fusiliers, School of trevally, Tusk fish, Angelfish, Anemone fish, Parrotfish, Nudibranch, Shrimp, Octopus, and Turtle
Koh Chang’s local dive sites are known for their stunning coral gardens. Hin Luk Bat site is our favorite reef due its topography, swim-thrus and vast array of corals. Hin Rua Tek has vibrant fan coral, while Hin Raab South has many hard and soft corals, including leather coral and whip coral gardens. And Secret Reef has the most varied collection of soft corals in the area!
